Going Global: Multi-Currency and Multi-Language Guide

Axnify Team7. april 202615 min read

Selling internationally is one of the fastest ways to grow your e-commerce business. Cross-border e-commerce is growing at 25% per year, and customers increasingly expect to shop in their own language and currency. Axnify makes going global straightforward with built-in multi-currency and multi-language support.

Setting Up Multiple Currencies

Navigate to Settings → Localisation → Currencies to enable additional currencies. Axnify supports all major currencies with automatic exchange rate conversion:

  • Automatic rates: Exchange rates update automatically, so your prices stay competitive without manual intervention

  • Price display: Customers see prices in their preferred currency throughout the entire shopping experience — listings, cart, and checkout

  • Payment processing: Stripe handles multi-currency payment capture, so you receive funds in your settlement currency regardless of what the customer paid in

  • Currency selector: A dropdown in the storefront header lets customers switch currencies at any time. Their preference is saved in a cookie for future visits

Adding Languages to Your Store

In Settings → Localisation → Languages, enable the storefront languages you want to support. Each translatable field in your admin dashboard — product titles, descriptions, collection names, page content — gets a locale tab:

  • Default language: Your primary language content goes in the first tab

  • Additional locales: Switch to other locale tabs to add translations

  • Completeness indicators: Green dots show which locales have all required translations filled in. Grey dots indicate missing translations

  • Fallback chain: If a translation is missing, the storefront falls back to the default language rather than showing empty content

AI-Powered Translation

Do not want to translate everything manually? Axnify offers AI-powered translation through our credit-based system:

  • Per-field translate button: Click the translate icon next to any text field to auto-translate from the default language

  • Translate All: One-click button in the locale tab header translates all empty fields at once

  • Credit-based pricing: Pay per character translated. Purchase credit packs in Billing → Credits

URL Structure for International SEO

Localised URLs follow the BCP 47 pattern: /en-GB/products/..., /tr-TR/products/..., /de-DE/products/.... This structure:

  • Tells search engines which language each page is in

  • Enables Google to serve the right language version to users in each country

  • Generates proper hreflang tags automatically

Storefront Selectors

The storefront automatically displays language and currency selectors in the header. They appear before the theme right-zone blocks, giving customers easy access without cluttering the navigation. The selectors use native language names (e.g. "Turkce" instead of "Turkish") for immediate recognition.

Theme Widget Translations

Even your theme content — hero banner text, button labels, newsletter headings — can be translated. The theme editor shows locale tabs on any section or block that has text or textarea fields, so your storefront speaks each customer language consistently.
